Top things to do in Perth

Just an hour south of Perth, Mandurah is a relaxed coastal town tucked between the Peel-Harvey Estuary and the Indian Ocean. It’s one of the best places in Western Australia to spot wild dolphins year-round. But that’s not all. With its winding waterways, floating homes, and waterfront cafes, Mandurah has a charm that feels worlds away from city life. And the highlight? Daily dolphin cruises that glide through these calm channels, where bottlenose dolphins are known to play, jump, and swim right alongside your boat. Whether you're traveling with kids, your partner, or solo, hopping on a dolphin cruise here isn’t just a good idea, it’s a rite of passage.

Why go on a Mandurah Dolphin Cruise?

Dolphin sightings are practically guaranteed

No need to cross your fingers, these cruises come with a Dolphin Guarantee. If you don’t spot any dolphins (which is rare), you’ll get a free return trip within 12 months. That’s how confident they are in the local pod that calls Mandurah home.

Expect estuaries, birds, and a wooden Giant

You’ll cruise through Peel-Harvey Estuary, Mandjar Bay, and the tranquil Kwilena Gabi Pool. Bonus? You’ll also get a rare waterside look at Seba’s Song, a towering timber sculpture from the Giants of Mandurah trail which is half art, half adventure.

Short on time? The tours are quick and easy

Clocking in at around 2 hours, these cruises are designed to give you maximum experience in minimum time. So you can meet dolphins, soak in scenic views, and still be back in time for fish and chips by the marina.

A little learning, a lot of fun

There’s a marine biologist onboard most cruises, narrating what you’re seeing (and sometimes hearing). It's engaging without being too scientific. So yes, you’ll leave knowing a bit more about dolphins.

Interactive fun for all ages

Some cruises let you peek into the engine room, steer the wheel like the captain, and scan the waters through giant binoculars. Whether you’re seven or seventy, it’s hard not to get a kick out of it.

Discounts that keep giving

You’ll get perks like buy-one-get-one churros at San Churros Mandurah, 10% off at the gift shop, and loyalty discounts on future cruises. So yeah, it’s the kind of ticket that keeps on giving even after you’re back on land.

Tips for taking a Mandurah Dolphin Cruise

  • Pick your cruise type based on what you want to see. For a deeper dive into local stories and landmarks like Seba’s Song, go for the Giant & Dolphin Sightseeing Cruise.
  • Keep your camera handy near Seba’s Song. The views of this giant wooden sculpture from the water are rare and make for some of the best photo ops on the route.
  • Look out for osprey nests near the estuary banks. They’re often perched up high and easy to miss unless you’re really scanning the treetops.
  • Arrive 15–20 minutes early. Boarding starts at the Mandurah Cruises Jetty, and the crew gives a quick safety briefing before you head out.
  • Don’t forget your voucher perks. Both cruises offer discounts at Mandurah Cruises’ gift shop and even a buy-one-get-one churros deal at San Churros nearby.
  • Binoculars are a bonus. You’ll find some on board, but bringing your own lets you spot dolphins or birds with a bit more control.
